Moving around from Siracha to Souzhou in her formative years, Oonita Keekarjai came back to Thailand to finish High School at St. Andrews International School, where she completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in 2018. Moving again for college, Oonita is currently in her second semester at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Michael and Oonita talks about the adjustments of life, school and more.

During her time in the IB program, one of the key highlights for Oonita was the CAS program (Creative, Action, Service program). Expressly, she was heavily involved in the Baan Dek Foundation, a Thai-registered Foundation with the mission of providing access to education, healthcare, and safety for all vulnerable children, where she found her passion for service and making a tangible impact.

Now attending the Sauder’s School of Business, Oonita talks about the perspective change she’s encountered through her school’s environment. From being in a business-heavy club culture to finding her way back into the community service scene, Oonita has recently joined greek life at UBC as a member of Alpha Phi Omega, a co-ed community service fraternity. With a renewed recognition of her love of service, Michael and Oonita discuss how leadership and service can play a role in our daily lives, and come to a heartwarming conclusion — that once you start integrating a service mindset into your routine, you can make small but tangible impacts onto the communities and people around us.
